Weekend art and a peek at a sewing project

Whale Shark, 'Sculpture by the sea', Cottesloe 2012

My weekend began on Friday with a delightful trip to Cottesloe beach with my parents for the annual 'Sculpture by the sea' exhibition.

It was very enjoyable wandering through the sculptures marvelling at some and trying to understand others. Afterwards we had a lovely lunch at a beachside cafe. Ahh, Perth at it's best.

After this relaxing start, the weekend got much busier. We are having new carpet this week so we were lugging furniture out of the bedrooms and madly touching up paint before the new carpet goes in. My bathroom is now so full of stuff it looks like an episode of 'Hoarders'! Actually, that's a bit like my sewing room all the time - oops.

Still, we managed to fit in a couple of local fairs where the boys got to skateboard...

...and, more importantly, I snatched some moments to work on my latest sewing project.

This is quite a change from what I usually make (it has a zip for a start!). It has many little steps and is fitted and lined. Yes, just a bit different from my usual knit fabric casuals - but exciting and a little bit sexy!

I hope to have it finished soon and to take some photos this week. Can't wait to show you :)

  1. Sounds good, we had a sculpture by the sea down here a couple of weeks ago and it was really great. Very cool felted wool swing chair (?!) and a very cool rug and big pot made from rope collected from the beach.

Looking forward to seeing what you are making. Thanks for your comment on my shorts they were from a burda style pattern, Pleated shorts feb 13. Here's the link. http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/pleated-shorts-022013.

  3. The new project looks lovely! It's not "Lily" is it (the lining suggests it's not, but you'd find it easy to adapt)?

Yes, I too have thought my corner looks "hoarder" (I'll tidy up/reduce when I'm ready, alright?!).

Lovely to "meet" your parents :-)

    1. No, not 'Lily'. I agree, I cluttered space equals a creative mind - right??
