Restyle Day 6

I'm not sure I managed to wear 50% op shopped items today, so I made up for it by wearing my self-made red jeans.

I'm sporting:
Bliss denim jacket - op shopped ($10) and refashioned by me. Blogged about here.
Black Bellabwear top worn under jacket - bought from Ozsale and worn endlessly!
Red jeans - made by me using Jalie pattern 2908 and blogged about here.
Black boots - bought from Airflex.

See ya,

Restyle Day 5

Here I am in a car park, unintentionally looking like I'm about to launch into Michael Jackson's 'Bad'. I popped into the city today, which is very rare for me, so I snapped a few shots in the car park when no one was looking.

So, for the Restyle op shop challenge today, I am wearing:

  • Chevron applique t-shirt - made by me and blogged about here.
  • Refashioned brown 'Jump' cardigan - op shop, $4. I added a zip and the green collar from another op shop jumper as it previously had an unflattering round neckline.
  • Yanuk jeans - ebay.
  • White scarf - op shop, $2.
  • Shiny bronze shoes - Zara mens, bought recently from Ozsale for $5!

Restyle Day 4

In keeping with the commencement of the athletics at the olympics, I'm wearing my sporty op shop outfit today. The jacket is for Triathlon Australia. I thought it was cool that it had 'Australia' written across the back. Anyone who knows me would be laughing at this as I am the least sporty or athletic person around. I always came last in school races and so envied those other kids who finished the sports day covered in ribbons. So, here I am pretending to be an athlete! I can't believe anyone would give this to an op shop. If I was legitimately representing my country in this jacket, I would keep it forever. Maybe the original owner had so many she didn't mind letting this one go.

So, here I am wearing:
Fila triathlon jacket - op shop from a couple of years ago, approx $5.
Green Esprit long sleeved t-shirt - op shop, $4.
Track suit pants made from sports mesh found recently in Good Sammy's for $5/roll, self-drafted pattern.
DKNY shoes - Paraquad quarterly jumble sale, Shenton Park, $7

Totally op-shopped for the Restyle challenge!

Restyle Day 3

Day 3 of the 31 day op shop Restyle challenge sees me in:

Stylecorp 100% merino wool cardigan - op shopped last winter and so cosy, $5.
Esprit black top - not op shopped, but handed down to me from my sister so it almost counts!
Blue pleated skirt - designed and made by me as a copy of a Victoria Beckham design. Made from op shop fabric, $2.
Leggings - bought from Witchery.
Boots (yes these again) - bought from Airflex.

Restyle Day 2

Day 2 of the Restyle op shop challenge and I'm sporting well over 50% op-shopped items.

Sussan knit dress - op shop from a couple of years ago, approx $6.
Sportsgirl ruched leggings - op shop last winter, $3.
Scarf - op shop earlier this year, $2 (not including the whites that turned pink when I put it through the wash after buying it!!! My three boys were not impressed).
Boots - bought at Airflex.
Watch - op shop, $20.

By the way, if you are reading this in another country and have never heard of an op shop, they are the same as thrift shops or charity shops. They sell donated items at low prices and proceeds go to charity.

A new challenge. Restyle Day 1

Something got me a bit excited today while I was making purchases at my fav op shop. Well, yes I am usually pretty excited about making op shop purchases, but there was something else. It was this, an event organised as part of the Perth Fashion Festival, in which ten Perth bloggers wear an outfit which is at least 50% op shopped every day in August. They then blog about it of course and pictures are posted on the Restyle website.

My mind raced, thinking of several different things at once...

...ten Perth bloggers. TEN!! I didn't even know there were ten Perth bloggers. As soon as I got home, I looked them up.

...green with envy, I wondered how they were chosen to be part of this.

...op shop outfits! I LOVE the op shop. My wardrobe is full of bargain treasures.

...so, by 'op shopped' do they mean straight from the op shop 'as is', or can you have refashions? I love refashions.

Then I looked down at my outfit for today. It is at least 50% op shopped, as usual. Suddenly I had an idea. Maybe I wasn't chosen to be part of this officially, but that doesn't have to stop me joining in anyway. So, I've set myself a challenge: to wear outfits that are at least 50% op shopped (including refashions...ok and self-made items from op-shop fabrics) every day for the month of August.

Wasting no time, I nipped out between downpours and snapped some pictures of my Day 1 outfit.

Details:
Cardigan - Zaket and Plover, bought last month at Dunsborough church op shop $4.
Top - Witchery, bought a couple of years ago from an op shop (forgotten which, approx. $4).
Jeans - Piper, bought from Myer
Boots, bought from Airflex

I hope I can keep this up as I have done no preparation whatsoever. We'll see.
Would anyone care to join me?

PS. As for my op shop purchases for today, you'll just have to stay tuned this month to see!
